More completions 2014/2015

More completions for 2014/2015

A gift for my Pops. The pattern is called Canasta from Monique Dillard's book "Traditional Fat Quarter Quilts. I called it "Playing Canasta in San Diego" because of fond memories of learning to play the card game from my Pops.

The fabric was bought at Rosies Calico Cupboard and reminded me of San Diego.

Every year, Bonnie Hunter over at Quiltville hosts a free mystery every year.  She is a wonderful designer and offers so much to our quilting community.  Last year's mystery had its beginning from Bonnie's visit to Mackinac Island and a visit to the Grand Hotel

This is my Grand Illusion -

This quilt was way out of my comfort level but as I did with Celtic Solstice, I learned a lot. Even with the picture, I learned a lot ... we aren't perfect as I now see an incorrect turn on one of the pieces. Its there to help me smile.

Completed Tops 2014/2015

Here are my completed tops in 2014/2015

This one was made out of the scraps leftover from Celtic Solstice. It was only 3' x 3' and was made to act as a curtain for our office bookcase.  It has minimal quilting and needs to come back to me so that I can "play" on my new Sweet 16 mid arm.

This one was my first attempt at paper piecing.  After the first wheel the others went very quickly.  I'm glad that this is only pinned at the moment.  I need to use black batting and then it will be ready to hang in my office.

More to come ...
